Introduction
This review of Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets is from my personal use of the product and is written from a hobbyist perspective.
Omega One is a pretty popular brand in the aquarium hobby today, but their foods I have tried recently haven’t impressed me much. The Betta Buffet pellets are a bit of an exception. In my review below I will share the positives and negatives I found with the food and who this food may be a good buy for.
Do Fish Like the Food?
Yes, my red veiltail betta (Balky) likes the food. He likes just about anything I put in his tank, including tank mates like my cherry shrimp, RIP cherry shrimp. But he does seem relatively eager to eat this food, so I count this as a win for the betta buffet pellets. One important note to keep in mind will be stated later, as to the size of the pellets.
Package Sizing and Pricing
Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets come in one size, the 1oz container. The cost is about $7 online but you may be able to get it cheaper in-store.
As I have stated in the past, I don’t hold the cost as a very high priority for betta foods. The reason is that most betta foods will last a very long time for someone who only has one or two bettas. But with that said the price is pretty good for the ingredients they use.
Pellet Overview
Here is my one negative with the Omega One Betta Buffet Pellets, the large size of the pellet. They claim to be a 1.55mm pellet, but I have noticed they vary in size rather dramatically, as you can see in the picture I took with some next to a dime. My betta has a hard time getting some of these pellets down because of this. That said, he does get them down.
As far as the pellets floating, I find them to do a good job in this category. I highly recommend floating pellets for betta fish as I find that they prefer to feed from the surface of the water.
Ingredient Quality
Omega One prides itself on the ingredients that it uses in its fish foods. They advertise that they use wild-caught salmon straight from Alaska and fresh-caught whole herring to name a few.
To be honest, I think the ingredients are great. They use some quality protein sources as their main ingredients and don’t have a giant list of fillers and binders. They also have a few vitamins added in to round the food out.
Overall, I appreciate the ingredients the food contains.
Market Availability
Omega One foods are pretty popular amongst hobbyists and the Betta Buffet Pellets can be found for purchase fairly easily. I bought mine from Petco, but the food is also readily available online. I will have a link below if you would like to purchase some from Amazon.
My Final Thoughts
I will keep my conclusion to this review short and sweet. The food is good, but the pellets are a little large. If you have a betta that is on the larger side, then I would say go for it. If it’s on the small size, maybe try New Life Spectrums small pellet food. With that said, the ingredients in the food are great, the price is good, and bettas seem to enjoy it.
