Introduction
This Aquarium Co-op Easy Fry Food review is written from a hobbyist perspective after personally testing the food.
Fry food being fed from a bottle is definitely a unique experience in the fish food world. Few others seem to be doing it. But is the food any good and does the bottle actually work? My review below will hope to cover these questions and help you decide whether the food is a good option for you or not. If you just want the quick answer, then skip to my final comments at the end.

Do Fish Like the Food?
Yes, the Aquarium Co-op Easy Fry Food is a hit with most of my fish. It is even eaten by some of my adult fish, like my platy fish, who like to skim it from the surface. While the food could be a supplemental food for these fish, it is primarily useful for smaller fish or fish fry. It would take quite a bit of food to fill up even a smaller adult guppy.

Package Sizing and Pricing
This food comes in two sizes, a 4oz bottle and a 1lb. bag. The bottle is currently priced at $12.49, and the bag is priced at $31.99. These prices may seem expensive, but they actually are pretty affordable when compared to practically any other fry food on the market. In fact, a top competitor, Hikari First Bites, cost a little over $5 for only .35oz. If you have a lot of baby fish to feed, this is certainly more affordable.
Easy Fry Food Overview
This food comes in a powdered form that varies a little bit in its size. It seems to be a little larger than other competitors but is still small enough for my baby guppies. The powder floats for a reasonably long time and then sinks slowly. This is good for most fry or smaller fish, as most will want to feed mid water or towards the bottom of the tank.
One negative that I have found with this food is the fact that it leaves an oily residue on the surface of the water. This is not a dangerous thing and probably comes from one of the ingredients in the food. I simply worry that it is feeding a little messier than other fry foods and could pollute the water quicker than some other foods.

Ingredient Quality
The ingredients in this food are pretty good. The main protein source is salmon fish meal, followed by dried yeast and marine protein (krill and plankton). It also contains some spirulina and a few vitamins to help round out the food. Another positive for the food ingredients is the higher protein content. This can help with growing baby fish.
Let's Talk About the Bottle
The bottle is certainly a unique way to feed your fish. I have recently seen only one other company using this same technique. With that said, I have found it to be a great and easy way to feed small, powdered food. Using your fingers can get messy quickly and can be difficult to portion properly. The bottle makes it incredibly easy and doesn’t usually spit out too much food depending on how you use it. The one downside that I see with the bottle is that it does not seem to seal as well as other foods. If this is the case, it could lead to the food going bad a little quicker than you would want.
Market Availability
Unfortunately, this food is only available through the Aquarium Co-op website or one of their growing lists of partner stores. This isn’t the end of the world for the food, but it does make it a little harder to find than some others on the market.
My Final Thoughts
I may surprise you with my answer, but I actually prefer the Aquarium Co-op Magic Small Fish Feed that they recently came out with to this food. The new food is a hair cheaper, floats in the water better, and does not leave the same residue on the surface. The only thing that I find this food does better is that comes with a fancy feeding bottle. If you can, I would buy the bottle, use the food, and then put the Magic Feed in the bottle for easy feeding.
In fact, if I were to make a prediction, I would say that the Aquarium Co-op will discontinue this food in favor of the Magic Feed in the not-to-distant future. Hopefully, they will still have the bottle as an option for purchase though. But that’s just my two cents. Either way both products are solid options for most baby fish.
